Tanya Lea DeLeon(Godwin) passed peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family with prayers and hymns. There will be a private family memorial to celebrate her life in the future.
Tanya was born on July 25, 1958, to parents, Truman and Jean (Jacobsen) Godwin in Lubbock,
Texas. The family moved to several cities in Texas with her father’s job and settled back in Lubbock where she grew up with her 2 sisters. Tanya attended Monterey High School, Tennessee Tech University (major-Forestry Management), and Lubbock American Business College (major-Medical Transcription). Tanya lived in many places in the US. She loved going to Civil War parks and camping whenever she got a chance. She met her husband, Ray DeLeon in Lubbock while in business college. They were married in 1994. She helped Ray in his CPA business for many years. Tanya was a kind and caring person to people and animals. She delivered meals to shut-ins in Tennessee, worked in Daycares in California, and cared for homeless animals wherever she lived. Tanya also loved to journal and write stories about life and many other subjects. Tanya will be missed by many friends and family members.
Tanya is survived by her sister, Susan Pierce (Randy); Step-mother, Nancy Godwin; Step-siblings, David Sanderson (Kathy), Gary Sanderson (Debbie), and Jane Evans (Brian); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.
Tanya is preceded in death by her husband, Ray DeLeon; her parents; one sister, Cheryl L. Besse; one niece, Jean E. Besse; and numerous other relatives.
The family wishes to thank UMC Cancer Center, Covenant Hospital, Hospice of Lubbock, and numerous family and friends in caring for Tanya with such love and concern.
