Sharon Ann Throneberry Martinez

Sharon Ann Throneberry Martinez passed away Wednesday, April 26th, 2023 at University Medical
Center in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 74.

Sharon was surrounded by her family and close friends.
Sharon was born October 03, 1948 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Wilcia and Mabel Throneberry.
She was the 8th of 11 children. Sharon attended school in Hartford, Arkansas before graduating from John J
Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan. After graduation, she enlisted in the Air Force where she served in the supply unit in Texas and Turkey.

Sharon met Joe Martinez while they both were serving at Randolph AFB. Sharon and Joe married on September 7,
1969 in his hometown of Ozona, Texas. Together, Sharon and Joe raised three children; Joe Martinez Jr., Lisa Martinez
Franks, and Joshua Martinez. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed playing softball, going to
the beach, decorating cakes, traveling, doing crossword puzzles and reading her Bible. In her later
years, she took care of several Lubbock ISD teachers' children during the school year, which brought her great joy.

Sharon had a great love for the Lord. She started attending Southcrest Baptist Church in 1992 where she was strong in her faith, which never wavered.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Joe; her son Joe Jr. and wife Christy, daughter Lisa and husband
Jason, and son Joshua and partner Elizabeth; her grandchildren Jensen, Kaelyn and husband Ethan,
Gabriel, Ayla, Annabelle, Jude, and Benecio; her brothers Kermit, Roger, Jerry, and Will; her sisters Vera and Deborah; and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Don, sisters' Billie, Carol, and Helen.

A memorial service is scheduled for:

Wednesday, May 3rd at 10am at Southcrest Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas.
