Funeral services for Pete Chavez Jr, 69, will be Saturday April 30th, 2022, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Raymundo Manriquez officiating.
Pete Chavez was born on May 4th, 1952, in Rosebud, Texas. He was raised in Ralls, Texas to the late Pete Chavez and Isabel Martinez. Pete was a professional musician in the late 60s playing for several Tejano bands to include The Peeping Toms, Los Moonlighters, Los Jovenes, and the Cruiser Band.
After playing Tejano music for many years, he became a disc jockey in Ralls and Lubbock, Texas. He eventually left the music scene where he worked in the mobile home industry up until his sudden death.
Pete had a kind and caring heart and was always willing to go out of his way to help. He was an ideal son who took care of his parents for many years until they passed. Pete demonstrated his gentleness thru the love for his family and his pet dachshunds. Pete loved reminiscing about the glory Tejano days while enjoying a cold beer and a glass of Chivas.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Pete Chavez, and a sister, Josephine Villafranco. He is survived by his sisters Virginia Fernandez (San Antonio, TX) and Lydia Gonzales (Ralls, TX), 6 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. I will miss your sarcasm and quick wit. I love you Uncle Pete. Merciful God, we entrust our uncle to Your mercy. May You welcome him into the light of Your face.
