Paul Anthony Pinkston was born in Lubbock, Tx on December 27, 1944 and died on August 11, 2023 from complications of dementia. He had been under the care of Hospice of the South Plains.
Paul was a Lubbock High and Texas Tech grad and a proud lifelong member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Paul loved fly fishing and he enjoyed a competitive game of poker, pool or dominoes, especially if a wager was involved. He also enjoyed darts league, playing guitar and piano, and golf, before arthritis in his wrists made it impossible. His brisket and ribs were legendary.
Paul was a good and loyal friend. He believed everyone is good at something and he claimed to be "a good bad example“. Paul was a terrific travel companion and he and Sherry shared many exciting grand adventures, some of them in their travel trailer.
Paul might best be remembered by the signature cowboy hat and boots he always wore. He was very patriotic and wore an American flag pin every day.
Survivors include his life companion and partner of 40 years, Sherry Christensen, as well as Tiffany and Mark Smith, and Grandchildren of the heart Kolt and Kimber Smith, and his 2 children Troy Pinkston and Katrina Cotton and their 3 children, several nieces and nephews and his precious cat Stella.
Although he wasn’t as close to some of his family as he would have liked, he always loved them all very much and will be remembered and missed by all who loved him back. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Roma Pinkston and by his siblings Gerald and Mike Pinkston and Charis Young Pruitt.
Paul always disliked funerals so per his wishes no formal services are planned. His ashes will be scattered at his favorite fly fishing spot in the New Mexico mountains.
Paul didn’t always have an easy life, and regrets….he had a few, but he always appreciated his many blessings, and he did it his way.
