Michael Lee Hastey
May 7,1950 – January 9, 2023

Michael (Mike) Lee Hastey of Lorenzo, Texas entered into his eternal home on January 9, 2023, at the
age of 70, with family by his side. Mike was born in Lubbock, Texas to James (Corkey) Clyde Hastey and
Sylvia Purdy Hastey on May 7, 1952. He is survived by his children, son Brandon Hastey and wife Laura
Hastey of West Columbia, Tx., daughter Leah Ball and husband Brandon Ball of Odessa, Tx.,
grandchildren Dalton Hastey, Dylan Hastey, Taylor Hastey and Brea Ball; aunt Bessie Purdy; uncle
Maurice Hastey; and companion Teresa Givens. He was preceded in death by both of his parents;
brothers James (Jim) Clyde Hastey Jr and Waren Buryl Hastey; and his wife LaVanda Bates Hastey.
Michael Lee had a love for people, and he never met a stranger. He was passionate about the Lord and
would share that with anyone that was willing to listen. He also could spend hours, even with a
complete stranger, sharing about his prized chickens, or his most recent tinkering project. He married
the love of his life, LaVanda, February 4, 1995 and always proclaimed that as one of the best days of his
life. They had 24 wonderful years together until her passing in September of 2019. He was blessed to
find love and companionship again with his partner, Teresa, whom with he had many joyful moments
the last years of his life.
Graveside service will be on January 21, 2023 at 2:00pm at Lorenzo Cemetery, 1022 FM378 Lorenzo, Tx.
