Obituary
Leon Whetzel, 86, of Lubbock passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on November 21, 1936 in Parsons, Kansas, to Earl and Marie Whetzel. He married Cecilia Bush on November 4, 1956.
Leon worked for Texas Instruments for 27 years working his way up to Vice President before retiring in 1996. Leon was an avid sports fan, and he especially enjoyed cheering on the Red Raiders. He loved spending time with family and friends, and talking sports.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold "Hut" Whetzel, all of Parsons, KS.
Leon is survived by his wife, Cecilia of Lubbock, brother Darold "Dut" Whetzel of Lawrence, KS, his children Lloyd (Betti) Whetzel of Lubbock, Marty (Ginger) Whetzel of Ransom Canyon, and Roxanne (Mike) Walker of Wolfforth, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 on the way.
Family visitation will be announced at a later date.
