KEN DOSHIER
Roy Kenneth Doshier, born in Childress, TX, on October 12, 1937 to Douglas Roy Doshier and Kay Wood Doshier passed from this life on
January 21, 2023.
He was a graduate of Childress High School, Texas Technological College and the US Naval School of Music in Washington, D.C.
Doshier served with the US Army’s 8th Infantry Division Band, stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany and was a member of the Texas Tech Band. He played for many years with numerous bands based in the Texas Panhandle.
He spent many years associated with Wes-Tex Aircraft in Lubbock and many years as a Designated Pilot Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration. He especially enjoyed flying the Texas Tech coaches on recruiting and scouting trips for 24 years, starting with J.T. King and ending with Spike Dykes.
Doshier loved hunting and fishing in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Montana, Utah, Saskatchewan and Mexico.
He married the love of his life, Frances Jones, in Paducah, TX, on December 22, 1963. He is survived by Frances, his wife of 59 years, daughter, Kendra Trautman (Jeff) of Frisco, TX, son, Doug Doshier (Shawna) of Amarillo, TX and grandchildren, Scott Trautman, Adam Trautman, Natalie Trautman, Nathan Doshier and David Doshier.
