Karen Sowell Obituary

Karen S. Sowell, 67 of Lubbock, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 23rd, 2023, in her home with her family. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She was very loved and will be missed terribly by all who knew her.

Karen was born on April 12, 1955, to Kenneth Anderson and Gwen Williams in Lubbock. Karen graduated from Lubbock High School in 1973. After high school, she worked for Answer Live Teleservices for over 20 years.

Karen met James Sowell in Lubbock and they were married on November 18th, 1972. Karen and James went on to have 3 children, Jaymie, Aaron, and Trent.

In 2016, Karen retired and spent her time playing with her beloved dog Cho-Cho. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandson whom she adored. She loved watching crime shows and reading books. She also loved to travel when she got the chance.

Karen is survived by her son Trent Sowell of Lubbock, her daughter Jaymie with her husband Chris Rodriguez of Lubbock. Her grandchildren Kyrsten with her husband Chris Haney, Ellie and Christopher Rodriguez all of Lubbock. And her only great grandson Zaidyn Haney. Her brother Brent Anderson and sister Katrina Kirby. Her niece Beth Elmore whom she thought of more as a daughter. Along with many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by Gwen Williams (Mother), Kenneth Anderson (Father), James Sowell (Husband), Aaron Sowell (Son), Vicki Horn (Sister), Stacie Lewallen (Sister), Tom Williams (Stepfather).

Memorial service will be held at Agape Funeral Chapel located at 6625-19th St on March 30th at 1pm.
