John Gary Garrett Sr.

John Garrett Sr of Bloomington, IL and Lubbock, TX passed away on October 4, 2023. John was born July 16, 1933 to parents, Robert Garrett and Evaree Porter Garrett.

John enjoyed: fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and friends, Nascar and Old Westerns.

He lived in Bloomington, IL until he and Dotty moved to Lubbock, TX around 1964. 

John had a career in drywall with his brother Rollin until he retired to Lake Kemp, Seymore TX. He then moved to Spur, TX to live with his son. Afterwards, he moved to a Tahoka, TX nursing home.

Finally, in March 2023, he moved back to Lubbock, TX until he passed. 

John is preceded in death by: his parents Robert and Evaree Garrett, siblings: Lucille Drum, Carl Porter, Peggy Jackson, Louise Schmidt, Robert Lee Porter, Joyce Brown, Rollin Garrett, Edna Harsha, Sharon Vawter, Harold Garrett, Robert Garrett Jr (Bobby), and Mary Garrett Siege.

John is survived by his brother: Floyd Garrett and wife Joyce, and sister Irene Garrett Fulkerson. As well as, many nieces and nephews and cousins! And children: Liana Wolf(died of MS) and husband Gary, John Garrett Jr and wife Kathy, Kimberly Daniel and husband Gary, and his grandchildren: Lisa (deceased), Brittany Wolf, Garrett Wolf, John Garrett III, Stephanie Garrett, Michelle Ostrander, Tiffany Bradley, Gary Daniel Jr, Tyler Daniel, Ashley Pitts, 17 Great-Grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX on Friday (10/06/2023) at 10am.
