Memorial services for Joe “Pop” Carlisle, 82, of Anton will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday March 27th at First Baptist Church in Anton.
Pop passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22nd at his home in Anton surrounded by loved ones. Immediately after, a great thunder storm moved through the area. We could not decide if this was his late wife, Carolyn “Blondie” Carlisle, asking what took him so long, or if he had already started hitting the lanes at the bowling alley that he missed so much.
Joe was born on October 4th, 1938 to Johnnie and Irby Carlisle in O’Brien, Texas. After high school, he joined the US Army and served 4 years in Georgia and Germany. Upon returning he met and married his soul mate, Carolyn Parker. They married November 13, 1959. Joe and his family settled in Anton in 1973.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and his oldest son, Craig. He is survived by his sons; Mike Carlisle of Toccoa, Ga and Kirk Carlisle of Anton, Tx. Two Sisters; Linda Reed of Anton and Ann Gradner of Copperas Cove Tx; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
