Opal 'Jane' Dean of Lubbock, passed away on Monday January 18, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born the youngest of six children to Fred and Jennie Stroade in Balmorhea, Texas.
Jane graduated from Balmorhea High School and in 1946 she married Hill Edmond Dean. In 1961, Jane moved with her family to Lubbock where she worked for the City Health Department and the Lubbock Independent School District. Jane served as a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of American POW's and Lubbock Senior Citizens.
Jane was very creative and stayed busy with several hobbies during the course of her lifetime. She also enjoyed traveling, playing dominoes and old time country square dancing. Jane loved her family and had friends and acquaintances in many places. She cherished life and laughter and will always be known for her caring and generosity.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years in 1989. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, David (Karen) of Palmetto, FL, Stephen (Debbie) of Ruidoso NM and Philip (Karen) of Amarillo along with six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jane also leaves behind her close companion over the last several years, Vernon Shaw of Morton, and her favorite little friend Chloe.
