James Holmes

James “Rik” Holmes, age 68 of Lubbock TX, a loving husband, devoted father, and best Pawpaw in the
world, went to be with our heavenly Father, Tuesday, October 3rd ,2023.

Rik was born on September 20th, 1955 in Paris TX to Claude & Georgia Holmes, After the family moved to
Lubbock, he graduated from Coronado High School. He married Tina Gustin on March 31st, 1975. They
were blessed with two daughters, Heather and Rachael.

Before retiring, Rik worked construction; from laying tile, to roofing, to framing houses. He pitched some
mean horseshoes, winning several tournaments over the years. But his real loves were the Lord and his
family, especially his grandbabies and his constant companions, Sam and Tucker.

Rik is survived by his wife Tina, his daughters Heather Sholey and husband Jimmy of Evans GA, Rachael
Holmes and husband James of Lubbock, his brother Craig Holmes and wife Kim of Black Hawk CO, six
grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Ashlynn, Jocelynn, Tallak, Jaden, and Amberlee, and niece and nephew,
Courtney and Chad.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 10:30 am, at New Horizon Baptist
Church, Lubbock Tx.
