Don R. Yelvington, 81, went to his heavenly home on Nov. 16th, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 19th, at City of Lubbock cemetery. Don’s friend, Jeremy Willis, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lubbock, will officiate the service. The family appreciates the staff of Agape Funeral Chapel for their care of Don’s earthly remains.
Don was born in Lubbock on December 4th, 1938 to W.H. “Bill” & Gladys Yelvington. He was the youngest of 5 children born to his parents. Many words describe Don, but fun loving describes him the best! He loved his family, gospel music, entertaining, playing cards & dominoes, laughing, his puppies, Oreos, and so much more. As the youngest of his family, he grew up with 16 nieces and nephews. Each one of us have many memories of great times with him – movies, playing cards, niece & nephew parties… Don was famous with everyone who knew him for his carrot cakes – the best ever!
Don has joined many family members & friends in heaven – parents Bill & Gladys, brothers Tommy Joe & W.E., friend Dean Ponton, & many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & friends. Left with precious memories are his sisters, Mildred Henyan (97), & Billie Miller (91), sister-in-law Patsy Arnold, 12 nieces & nephews, along with many special relatives and friends.
Thank you to the staff of Windcrest Health & Rehab, along with Kindred Hospice in Abilene for their loving care of Don these last 3 ½ years.
