Deborah Gee

Deborah (Debi) Lynne Eure Gee, 62, of Lubbock, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021. She was born in Pasadena, Texas on March 18, 1958 to Robert Osborne and Fay Evelyn Eure while her father was at Ellington Air Force Base.  As her father was in the Air Force, she attended school in Altus, Oklahoma; Glasgow, Montana; and Abilene, Texas prior to moving to El Paso, Texas, where Debi graduated from Eastwood High School.  Debi attended Wayland Baptist University where she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Education.  She began her teaching career in El Paso.  Debi also taught school in Canyon, Ralls, and Idalou. Debi enjoyed working with children in the Special Education Program and went to West Texas State University where she obtained her Masters in Special Education.  Debi continued to teach school while taking her post graduate courses.  While teaching at Idalou, Debi obtained her Educational Diagnostician Certification. Until retirement, Debi was employed with the EPEC where she worked with many teachers and students in the East Plains schools systems. Then Debi taught at Texas Tech in the Education program. 

While at Wayland Baptist University, Debi met the love of her life, Richard Gee. They married July 28, 1979 in El Paso. While living in Amarillo, their son, Ryan Allen Gee was born April 20, 1983.  They moved to their present home in Lubbock, Texas where they were active in many community events, including Lights on Broadway and 4th on Broadway.  Debi become involved in the Emmaus Community and the KO Community. 

Debi was a faithful Christian who shared her faith with everyone around her. Her smile would make her sweet dimples shine.  Debi enjoyed singing and her grandchildren would brighten her day. Many teachers and students talk of how much they have learned from her. She enjoyed working through community ministries.  Debi was loved and will be greatly missed by her students, colleagues, friends and family.

Debi was preceded in death by her father and grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Richard Gee and son, Ryan Gee (Dondi) as well as her mother Fay Eure and siblings, Regina Gross (Keith) and Robert Eure (Marian) and two grandchildren, Shawn Allen Gee and Samuel Andrew Gee.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00am at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
