Cynthia Tiger Obituary

Cynthia Ann Tiger, 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on February 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Annie Mae Turner and Thelbert Treat Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas, and brother, Michael Taylor. She leaves behind a son, Jon Scott Massey and wife Nicole of Sweetwater, Texas. Granddaughters, Kimbra Moon and husband J.C. of Midland, Texas & Brandie Brocato and husband Ryan of Alexandria, Louisiana. She had four great grandchildren, Clara & Rylan Moon and Luke & Amelia Brocato. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 2, 1939 to Thelbert and Annie Mae Taylor. She attended Texas Christian University, where she received a Teaching Degree. She also attended Northwestern State University receiving a Masters in Administration. She taught at the Elementary level for 55 years, teaching in Fort Worth, TX, Abilene, TX, Alexandria, LA, and finally Lubbock, TX. She excelled at teaching reading and social studies. She had a great love for American History and always admired Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson. She retired from Nat Williams Elementary in 2016, having taught there for 32 years. After retirement, she served as a reading interventionist for 2 years and enjoyed spending time with her family and many close friends. She attended Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas and enjoyed studying the Bible and spending time with her Sunday School Class. She dedicated her life to teaching children and made a lasting impact on the lives of many colleagues and students. Nothing made her happier than seeing the bright shining faces of so many children entrusted to her. The family would like to say thank you to Hospice of the South Plains for the tender loving care they showed her over the last year and a half. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Lubbock ISD Foundation for Excellence at lubbockisd.org/o/lisd/page/ffe. A Memorial Service will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10 am.
