Aubrey Jan Fouts (Pop Fouts) was born the middle child to Aubrey and Marie Fouts in Knox City, Texas on July 24, 1934. He passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2023. He, aloney with his brother Ed Fouts and sister Lynell, grew up on a cotton farm outside of Rule, Texas. He graduated from Rule High School in 1953 and attended Texas Tech University before being accepted to law school at the University of Texas. Jan married the love of his life Adrienne Lehrmann in 1956 and she gracefully followed him to Austin where she supported them working as a legal secretary while he completed his law degree, Upon obtaining his law degree in 1959, he and Adrienne relocated to Lubbock Texas where he began the practice of law with Key, Carr, and Clark and later became a full partner with Key, Carr, Evans and Fouts. While the firm transformed over the years, in 1998 Jan and his daughter Leigh Ann realized a life long dream of practicing law together and formed "The Fouts Law Firm" where he continued his dedication to the law until shortly before his death.
Jan's undying commitment to his clients, partners and employees was only surpassed by his love for his wife of 66 years, his children and grandchildren (and of course, fishing).
Jan is survived by his wife Adrienne, daughter Leigh Ann and husband Mike Maloney (sons Tyler and Tanner and his wife Macy) daughter Kimberly and husband Joe Ware (daughters Aubrey, Lillie, and Grace); daughter Melissa and husband Ron Harris (daughters Amy and Brynn); his sister Lynell and husband John Brawner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
