William Holland Obituary Honoring and Loving Memory Of William Lloyd Holland March 12, 1943 – June 17, 2024 William Lloyd Holland was born to parents, Connie Maurita and Loyd Merrle "Mutt" Holland on March 12, 1943 in Donley County Texas. He attended Turkey schools and graduated Salutatorian in 1961. He worked at the local gas station prior to serving our country for the United States Army during the Vietnam War beginning April 8, 1965. He received an Honorable Discharge March 22, 1967 and moved to Lubbock. He worked as a mechanic for Conley-Lott- Nichols Machinery Company for a number of years before starting his own mechanic field service business, Lloyd's Field Service in the late 70's. He continued his self-employed business until the 1990's, when he worked a few years at West Texas Dirt and paving, prior to retiring. Lloyd met and married Norma Jean Haney on April 26, 1968 and soon after, adopted Norma's children, David Louis Scott and Brend Jean Chitwood. Norma and Lloyd welcomed Christina Maurita on February 2, 1972. Retirement for Lloyd allowed time for plenty of his activities and hobbies. He enjoyed playing with his miniature train set, riding time on his motorcycle, camping at nearby lakes, picking on his guitar, singles dance night whenever possible, turning grape juice into wine, and working around his land with his tractor and lawnmower. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents Connie and Mutt Holland, Brother Danny Holland, daughter Brenda Noonkester, great-granddaughter Audrey Nicole. He enjoyed life with his survivors: his brother Tim and wife Marilyn Holland, Son David and wife Tina Holland, daughter Christina and husband Ron Baker; Grandchildren: David Holland, Miranda and husband John Barrentine, Robert Holland and wife Holly, Ashley Holland, Cassidy and husband Kendal Hopkins, Kendra and husband Matt McDonald, Tanner Jasper and wife Ashley; Great-Grandchildren: Kyler, Kayleigh, Baylor Barrentine, David Gage Holland, Austin and Michaela Holland, Liam and Brenlee Yandell, Codey Martinez, McKenna and Lauryn McDonald, Leiden and Haylee Hopkins, Brentley Jasper. Family meant everything to Lloyd! He was always proud of his military service and the service of his family members. He enjoyed telling stories over and over, just in case you forgot, and wanted to share information about his lineage and other events throughout his 81 years of life. He was quite the prankster and loved telling jokes, sending funny birthday cards and his favorite young children's prank, "pull my finger." His hands were rough and callused, and his arms thin and bruised, but he still gave the best soft yet powerful hugs. We'll miss you forever and always. Extra quotes: "A Dad is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way." "Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song." Dad: A son's first hero, a daughter's first love. Services
