Wanda Baker Obituary Wanda June (Manning) Baker, 95, of Lubbock, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 20, 2024. Wanda was born June 1, 1929, in Ft. Worth, Texas to Marvin H. Manning and Billie Cozette (Bryant) Manning. Wanda lived most of her young life in the Abilene, TX area graduating from Abilene High School. She married the love of her life Billie Joe "Bill" Baker July 1, 1948, in Caps, TX. Over the years while raising their family they lived in Abilene, Crane, Odessa, TX and Roswell, NM before moving to Lubbock, TX in 1970. Wanda loved working and being around people, she worked mainly in the grocery business until 1979 when she started a new career buying Aloette Cosmetics, West Texas Franchise until she retired in 2000. After retiring she volunteered at Covenant Hospital until she was 90. Wanda loved to read and paint, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and her church family. Wanda was always active in her church, holding many positions and was known for her pies and cornbread. Survivors include sons, Billy O. "Buck" Baker of Kauai, HI., Michael R. Baker, and wife Sandy of Corpus Christi, daughter, Renee Rowan Coffey of Abilene; grandchildren, Penny Brandon Burnett of Athens, NY; Clint Baker Hefner of Sweetwater; Chelle Rowan Hillis and husband Brett of Lubbock; sister Yvonne Donaldson of Plano, eight great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Bill Baker, her daughters, Penny Rochelle Baker and Carolyn Yvonne Bender, parents Marvin Manning and Billie Leach, brothers Buddy Manning, Bryant Manning, Jimmy Haynes and Jay Haynes. Sons-in-love Randy Rowan and Devin Coffey, daughter-in-love Patty Baker. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Lukes The Way Chapel, 5805 98th St. Lubbock, TX Services
