Samuel Rutherford Obituary Samuel Wayne Rutherford passed from this life Monday, August 26, 2013, in Lubbock, TX. He was born into this life Sunday, April 20, 1941 to Marvin Ely and Johnnie (Oliver) Rutherford in Divide, TX. Sam grew up in the Abilene, TX area and worked for various car dealerships as a mechanic. He had his own shop in Houston for a number of years, in the 80s, before moving back to the Abilene area and eventually to Lubbock, where he worked as shop foreman for Shamrock Chevrolet. Sam married Lynn Chapman on April 14, 2001. He is loved, and will be missed, by many. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Joe Rutherford and A.R. Rutherford. He is survived by his wife Lynn, daughters Dede Holman (Butch) and Dr. Cindy Rutherford, two granddaughters Jessica Holman and Rachael (Holman) Knipstein (Ben), and grandson Steven Vance Rutherford. The family will greet friends at Agape Funeral Chapel from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, August 30, 2013. A memorial service, to celebrate Sam's 72 years of life, is scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Turning Point Community Church, 11202 Quaker Ave. Lubbock, TX.
