Obituary

Roy Lee White passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, surrounded by the love and care of his family and the staff at Porch Swing Assisted Living Home.

Roy was born on March 4, 1935, in Kildare, Texas, to Kenny White, Sr. and Clemmie Lee Dodd.  He grew up in southeastern Texas where he developed strong values, work ethic, and faith that would guide him throughout his life.

A devoted member and deacon at New Hope Baptist Church, Roy was actively involved in the Men's choir and numerous church activities until his health declined. His faith remained an important part of his life and provided strength and comfort to him and those around him.  Roy dedicated 30 years of service to Mobile Oil Company, where he held a variety of positions before retiring in 1996. He was known for his hard work and reliability.

Roy enjoyed traveling to Black rodeos, searching for arrowhead artifacts, and spending time with his family. He especially loved relaxing in front of the television, where he enjoyed watching classic westerns, sports, Hallmark movies, and religious programming.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Clemmie Lee Dodd and Kenny White, Sr.; his sister, Ethel Morris; and his brothers, Jessie Gray, Sammie Morris, Charles White, Kenny White, Jr., and Earl White.

Roy is survived by his children, Lorna Jackson of Hobbs, New Mexico; Lori White of Phoenix, Arizona; and Roderick White of Lubbock, Texas; and his daughter-in-law, Marsha White of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Jackson, Richard Jackson, and Lauren Jackson, all of Hobbs, New Mexico; Alea White of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Jonathan White of Seattle, Washington. His great-grandchildren include Malachi Jackson of Dallas, Texas; Izaiah Mendoza (Desiree) of Portales, New Mexico; and Jazmin Jackson of Hobbs, New Mexico. He was also blessed with two great-great-grandchildren, Zayden and Essence Mendoza of Portales, New Mexico.

Roy is also survived by his brothers, Harold Morris of Longview, Texas; Oliver Morris of Dallas, Texas; O.C. Blackwell of DeSoto, Texas; and L.C. Dodd of Dallas, Texas, as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Roy's legacy of faith, hard work, and love for family will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
