Rodney Wayne Hendon, 68, of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The funeral will take place at Wayne Avenue Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, beginning at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Eddie Sutton officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Lorenzo Cemetery in Lorenzo, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Agape Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Lubbock.

The family will receive guests for viewing and visitation on Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M., April 20th at the Agape Funeral Chapel.

Rodney was born on July 9, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas to Donald & Dorothy Hendon. He grew up in Lubbock and became a mechanic. He attended bible college and later served as a pastor for many years. He enjoyed working on cars and mowing yards. He genuinely enjoyed helping people in need. He was a member of the Wayne Avenue Baptist Church.

He married Roberta Mayhall in 1976.

Rodney leaves behind his wife, Roberta Hendon of Lubbock, along with his two brothers, Roger Hendon and Ricky Hendon, and his granddaughter, Ashley.

Three sons—Jimmy, Lee, and Jerry Hendon preceded him in death.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Rodney to the Cuidado Casero Home Health & Hospice, 2118 Broadway St., Lubbock, Texas 79401.
