Rodney Francis Green, 64, of New Home, Texas, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Betty Green.

He is survived by his children, daughter Melissa Owings, husband Justin; son, Russell Green, wife Casssie; brother, J. Loy Green; his grandchildren, Brynley and Jase Owings; niece, Lauren Liggett and nephew, Ryan Green.

He graduated from Jal High School in 1979 where he excelled at all sports and attended LCU on a baseball scholarship. Later, he worked in the oilfield, a career that matched his hardworking and determined nature. Outside of work, he loved hunting and fishing, spending time with family, and doing what he did best—telling jokes and making people laugh. He loved to dance and had a well-known stubborn streak that his loved ones came to expect and cherish.

Above all, Rodney enjoyed being surrounded by the people he loved, sharing stories, laughter, and moments that will be remembered forever.

A celebration of Rodney's life will be held at a later date; however, in accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held at this time.
