Obituary

Rita Sartor-Yelvington Obituary Rita Fay Sartor Yelvington (Minor), born on June 20, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Lubbock, TX. Rita leaves behind her husband of 28 years, Joe Yelvington of Lubbock Tx, son Jared Sartor and grandson Jaxson Sartor of Cleburne, TX. She is also survived by sister Carla Minor of Elgin, OR, brother Michael Minor of Lubbock Tx, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was raised in Lubbock, TX and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1982. Rita was one of seven siblings. Brothers: Jim Minor, Joey Minor, Roger Minor and sister Ellen Armstrong preceded her in death as well as her parents Sedrick and Ellen Ruth Minor. Rita worked at Methodist Hospital as a Histotechnologist in the late 80's, and early 90"s. Rita and Joe moved to the Ft Worth area for Joe's work and were there until a life change happened 18 years ago. They retired to Levelland, TX until the birth of their grandson Jaxson. Of course, Rita desired more than anything to move back to the Ft Worth area to be close to her son and grandson. Jaxson was the bright light and blessing of her life. She loved this child so much and she and Joe cared for him and advocated for his special needs. They loved to send family pictures and videos of how loving this boy is and how much fun he could have doing the simplest things like playing in water or jumping on his trampoline. Even after they had made the move back to Lubbock in October 2022, Rita stayed current daily about Jaxson through Jared and Kayla. She always had a new picture or video to share of Jaxson. Rita was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a loyal friend to many. She always had a great way of telling a story that would bring you to tears with laughter. Favorite phrases family members remember are "Lets Love" and "Who's your buddy, who's your pal?" Another favorite was" I may not be normal, but nobody is." Rita was witty, strong, stubborn sometimes in a good way, and as Michael says "she always knew it all or could convince you that she did" Rita's favorite song was "Bring Me Flowers Now". Bring my flowers now, while I'm livin' I won't need your love when I'm gone Don't spend time, tears, or money on my old breathless body If your heart is in them flowers, bring 'em on All the miles cast a long shadow I'd take a couple back if I could I'd've learned to play guitar Told my daddy more I loved him But I believe, for the most part, I done good There's always sunrise and rainbows and babies And the little things I cherish on my way Even though one day They'll bury me and Jesse Ray I just know we're gonna ride again someday Bring my flowers now, while I'm livin' I won't need your love when I'm gone Don't spend time, tears, or money on my old breathless body Well, if your heart is in them flowers, bring 'em on The days are long but the years are lightning They're bright and they will never strike again I wish I'd been a better friend, a better daughter to my mother There's no goin' back when your back's against the wind So if you got love, then you're sittin' on a gold mine And you can't take it with you when you go So don't wait to help your sister Forgive your brother and your neighbor We all think we got the time until we don't Bring my flowers now, while I'm livin' I won't need your love when I'm gone Don't spend time, tears, or money on my old breathless body If your heart is in them flowers, bring 'em on If your heart is in them flowers, bring 'em on *The Family will be having a Celebration of Life gathering in Lubbock, TX in the weeks ahead and it will be posted as details come together*
