Obituary

Richard Rhoderick Obituary Services for Richard Carl Rhoderick, who died at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, October 4th, after a three year battle with ALS, will be on Monday, October 9th, at 10:00am at Southcrest Baptist Church. Internment will be at 2:30 pm at Quitaque, Texas Cemetary. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, October 8th, at Agape Funeral Home. Richard, their third child, was born on October 22, 1957, in Heckville, Texas, between Lubbock and Plainview, to Billy Frank and Patricia Rhoderick. He grew up and attended school in Lubbock. Richard served in the Army after high school. He worked for his brother for 3 years in New Mexico before returning to Lubbock where he worked for several years for his father at High Plains Furniture. In 1998 he went to work at Trinity School until ALS forced his retirement in 2016. He fought valiantly, remaining mobile until shortly before his passing. He retained his ability to communicate using a Boogieboard device. He offered a beautiful smile and thumbs ups to everyone who helped him and pointed upwards after prayers or Bible readings. Richard signed "I love you" to all who helped him and blessed all with his spirit and love. Richard is survived by his mother, brother Michael (Patty), sister Lesa Williams (Terry), son Justin and seven nephews and nieces. His father preceded him in death on April 6, 2017. He was also preceded by grandparents James & Bertha Hancock Rhoderick and S.C. and Austella Miller Brown. Services
