Ricardo Salas, Sr Obituary Ricardo Salas, Sr., 59, of Lubbock, went to be with the Lord, where he is rejoicing, on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 P.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, 101 E. Tulane (corner of N. Ash and E. Tulane), Lubbock, with David Davila officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Agape Funeral Chapel, Lubbock. Ricardo was born Saturday, July 11, 1953 to Justo and Silveria (Loredo) Salas, in Edinburg, TX. He began his career in the restaurant business in 1975 at a local Pizza Hut in Edinburg, where he met his wife, Olivia. Ricardo was soon offered a position with Furr's Cafeteria in Colorado; he accepted, and embarked upon a career change. Furr's brought him to Hobbs, N.M. Everywhere Ricardo worked his personable and approachable personality made him popular with his customers. Mr. Salas, or "Senor Salas", as he was called by many, managed Furr's Cafeteria, Grandy's, and Taco Villa while residing in Hobbs. He worked in the restaurant business for 30-years. Ricardo was an avid gardener, enjoyed completing puzzles, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. When he wasn't watching the "BOYS" win the big games, he would educate himself on the weather and about the universe. Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Juanita. Those left to cherish his memories are his "Buddy" Olivia Silva, two children, Ricardo Salas Jr., Galilea Hernandez and Son-in-Law, Rey Hernandez Jr.; He is loved by three grandchildren, Nikoli, Nyomi and Nathalia; two brothers and five sisters, Silverio, Justo Jr, Virginia, Bertha, Emma, Esperanza, Raquel, who celebrate his life and memories; numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly; and many cousins.
