Regina Louise
Gilchrist
Apr 15, 1969 — Aug 10, 2026
Regina Louise Gilchrist, 57, of Alva, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by her brother and sister-in-law. Regina passed away due to complications from advanced cancer and heart disease.
Regina was born on April 15, 1969, in Odessa, Texas, to Benny and Dorothy (Harrison) Freeman. She graduated from Permian High School in 1987. Regina never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone she encountered. She worked in various retail positions throughout her life, as she loved being around people and helping others. Regina was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas, before moving to Alva, Oklahoma, where she lived with her daughter, grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Lady.
Regina especially enjoyed playing games of all kinds, including cards, Mahjong, Krazy Bee, Solitaire, and Bingo. She was fiercely competitive, and her family fondly remembers the times her nephew, Ricky Jr. Freeman, would bluff and beat her at Texas Hold'em, prompting Regina to call out, "Darn you, Ricky Lynn!" She also enjoyed frequent trips to Bingo halls with her niece Rebekah and nephew Ricky Jr.
Family was at the heart of Regina's life. Her older brother, Ricky, fondly remembers their childhood, when their parents would allow him to go out with his friends and girlfriends—as long as Regina could go along, too. Nearly ten years younger, Regina adored her big brother and loved being included in everything he did. The two shared many special memories throughout their lives.
Regina's oldest daughter, Chelsea, fondly remembers road trips to Phoenix, Arizona, to visit Regina's older sister, Rene, and their cousins. Those drives were filled with music from Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, and Patsy Cline. Chelsea recalls lovingly "torturing" her mom with music Regina didn't particularly enjoy, but tolerated simply because it meant spending time together. Regina's niece, Amy Seibold, remembers that when she was younger, Regina lovingly called her mother, Rene, "Mama Nay." Rene was the oldest sibling, and Regina looked up to her tremendously. Amy also remembers the night Rene got married. When Uncle Ricky told Regina that Nay would not be coming home because she was married, Regina cried at the thought of losing her beloved "Mama Nay."
Regina leaves behind a beautiful family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Chelsea Freeman of Odessa, Texas; Dorothy "Beth" Carpenter of Alva, Oklahoma; and Kyle Runyan of Portland, Oregon; her grandchildren, Mason, Malik, Nathan, Madalynn, Liana, Lanee, Niome, Quinn, Helena, Axel, and Benny; and her great-grandson, Cove. She is also survived by her brother, Ricky Freeman of Lubbock, Texas; her sister, Rene Seibold of Peoria, Arizona; her nieces, Rebekah Davis, Amy Seibold, and Brittany Seibold; and her nephew, Ricky Freeman Jr.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Dorothy Freeman. Though she is no longer with us, Regina's laughter, competitive spirit, generosity, and love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Agape Funeral Chapel and Crematory, with funeral services immediately following. Interment will take place at the family plot in Eastland, Texas. Pastor Eddie Sutton of Wayne Avenue Baptist Church will be officiating the service.
