Obituary

Raymond Streu Obituary Raymond Oliver Streu, 86, of Lubbock passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, March 28, 2018 surrounded by family. Oliver was born July 7, 1931 in Hereford, TX to parents William Urlin and Yetta Mae "Jean" Streu. He spent his early years in Hereford going to school and working at Streu Hardware before attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock where he graduated with honors in Business Administration in 1952. Oliver immediately joined the Navy to proudly serve his country in the Korean war. After the war, Oliver returned to Hereford where he worked in the real estate business and served in the Naval Reserves - leaving after 10 years of service at the rank of Lt. Commander. In 1973, he moved to Amarillo where he joined Waddell and Reed and became a Certified Financial Planner eventually achieving division manager. Oliver progressed his Financial Planning career working at EF Hutton as the regional director. But, Oliver always had the entrepreneur's spirit and started his own firm, the Asset Planning Group, which he ran from 1983 until he retired in 2000 and moved down in Lubbock. He loved helping people plan for their financial future almost as much as he loved sailing and fly fishing. Oliver was a brilliant, loving, and always witty spirit that enriched countless lives with his charm and knowledge. He will be missed greatly by all that knew him. Oliver is preceded in death by his father Urlin Streu, mother Jean Streu, and son Russell Francis Streu. Oliver is also survived by his wife Doris Francis Streu; sons William Raymond Streu, Ronald Hardman Streu, and Randall Oliver Streu; grandchildren Amanda Streu, Kristi Crader, Billy Streu and Peyton Streu; and 6 great grandchildren. The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Lubbock at 1411 Broadway. The family asks that any contributions be made to the charity of your choice. Services
