Randal Blanton Obituary Randal Blanton passed away Friday, December 06, 2013, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas with his family at his bedside after a lengthy illness. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. Randal was born in Dimmitt, Texas to Lloyd and Leona Blanton. He was raised on the family farm in Sunnyside, Texas. He married Elvina Jane "Janie" Hooten on October 12, 1973. He and Janie raised three children: Chris, Mary and Kurt. Randal made his living primarily in the livestock business until moving to Lubbock in 1992 to care for his aging mother and for Janie to return to college. Randal was preceded in death by his parents; elder brother Ronald; elder sister Linda; his beloved wife of 36 years Janie; and eldest son Chris. Those left to cherish his memory are: younger brother Terry Blanton of Blackrock Canyon, Arizona; daughter-in-law Joann Blanton of Miami, Texas; daughter Mary and husband Brandon Sires of Lubbock; son Kurt of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren Lane Blanton; Justin Mann; Santana Mann, Christopher Drexil; James Carter; Rebecca Sires; Jonathan Sires; Samantha Sires; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, one niece, three nephews, and friends. The family requests that memorials, in honor of Randal, be made to the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
