Octavio Johnny Martinez, lovingly known as Johnny and affectionately nicknamed "Chubbs," passed away in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 55.

Johnny was born on October 23, 1970, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was raised in Truchas and spent much of his life in Grants, New Mexico. A proud New Mexican, he loved his culture, his roots, his lowriders, and the food that brought family and friends together. Above all, he loved his family deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Octavio and Veronica Martinez, and his brothers, Marvin and Jason Martinez.

He is survived by his children, Damien Octavio Juan Martinez, Shileen Mann, and Carlene Martinez; his grandsons, Adakiss Octavio Dean Martinez and Caleb Martinez; and his siblings, Jolene and Phillip Martinez. He also shared a deep bond with Sonya Martinez, with whom he remained close throughout the years.

Johnny was known for his warm personality and sense of humor. He enjoyed cowboy movies, cereal at any hour of the day, and teasing loved ones with his playful spirit. Though not a perfect man, he loved deeply, forgave often, and lived life with heart.

After a long and difficult journey, his family finds comfort in their faith and in knowing he is now at peace.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at The Way, Truth & Life Ministries, 700 Sakelares Blvd., Grants, New Mexico.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
