"MIKE" Dickson Obituary "MIKE" Merton Myrick Dickson passed from this life Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Lubbock, TX. He was born into this life Thursday, April 15, 1948 to Sam Claude and Dortha Joy (Myrick) Dickson in Lubbock, TX. The first of four cousins born in 1948, Mike Dickson was one member of a family of many west Texas natives. In 1972 he met life-long love, Lynda Joy Hand and married her a year later on June 1st in Everret, Washington. Wedded in the Church of Christ, he brought his bride home by car to Lubbock and four years later they had their first child Marcy. They were members of Vandalia Church of Christ. He started his own cabinet making business, Kitchen Mart, in 1980 building custom laminate and solid surface counter tops for residential customers, schools, hospitals, prisons and other state facilities. He welcomed the birth of his son Jared in 1981. Later, the family placed membership at Greenlawn Church of Christ. He held his grandson for the first time the morning of April 21st, 2014 at UMC, just six days after his own birthday. They were immediate friends. Mike retired in 2012 after seeing cancer to remission for 2.5 years. He departed peacefully at home from natural causes to join his parents and his older brother Roger, who preceded him this April in heaven. Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynda Joy Dickson; a daughter Marcy DeAnn Ventle and husband Donald, Jr.; a son Jared Nathan Dickson and FiancAC.e Micca Burns (to wed in April 2015); his only grandson Marson Grey Ventle; a younger brother Mark Zane Dickson and wife Marcia and their son Francis Ian Dickson; and nieces, Cherish Michelle Richeda and Tamra Dawn Green. A memorial service, to commemorate Mike's 66 years of life, is scheduled for 6:00 P.M., Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Monterey Church of Christ, Lubbock, with Ben Pickett officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Agape Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Lubbock.
