Merlene Woodard, of New Deal, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.

A lifelong resident of the Lubbock area, Merlene devoted her life to her family. She shared 52 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joe Woodard, building a life together grounded in love, commitment, and family.

Above all, Merlene was a dedicated mother who treasured her children. Her love and devotion to her family were central to her life, and the memories they made together will remain a lasting source of comfort and love.

Merlene is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joe Woodard; her twin sons, Coey Woodard and Joey Woodard and wife Katharine Woodard; and her sister, Pat Ethridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margie and Merle Combs and brother Bob Combs.

Merlene’s Christian faith and devotion to her family will remain an enduring part of her legacy. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and remembered with gratitude for the life she lived and the love she gave.

May she rest in the peace and the eternal love of her Savior.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in New Deal, Texas.
