Manuel "Bird" Sanchez, Sr. passed away on March 29, 2026 in Lubbock, Texas.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 in the Agape Funeral Chapel.

Viewing will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 9 A.M. until 6 P.M.

Manuel was born on October 9, 1961 in Lubbock, Texas to Manuel and Juanita Sanchez.  He grew up in Lubbock and worked as a Concrete Contractor for many years.  In the words of his son Manie, "To say my dad was a good man would be an understatement. He was an extraordinary man who acted like an ordinary one. He was my best friend and my hero the strongest man I know. He was always willing to help, the first to show up, and the last to leave. Even though he wasn't always big on saying 'I love you,' I never once doubted the absolute love he had for our family". He taught me the value of kindness, the strength of humility, and the joy of making others laugh. He was a man of great integrity, a mentor who guided me not just with his words, but by his example."

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Juanita Sanchez; two sisters, Adelina Sanchez and Anna Maria Sanchez.

He is survived by his children, Manuel Sanchez, Jr., Anthony Sanchez, Alicia Robles, Bridgett Bernal; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Victor Sanchez and Juan Sanchez; sisters, Evangelina Sanchez and Alicia Bryan
