Linda Strickland Obituary Memorial Services for Linda Gale Strickland will be held on Monday January 23, 2023, 10am, at Southcrest Baptist Church. Linda Gale Strickland of Lubbock, TX passed away suddenly on Tuesday January 3, 2023, at the age of 74. She was born on March 26, 1948, in Lubbock, TX to (late) Johnnie and Lois Jones. She married the love of her life, Jerry Don Strickland, in August of 1968. They have two daughters, Rachel and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Lois Jones, her sister Connie Parrish, and her brother John Jones. Linda is survived by her husband Jerry Don Strickland of Lubbock TX. They had celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage. She is also survived by a daughter, Rachel Brunner and her husband Jason of Lubbock TX and her daughter Melissa Henderson and husband Rex of Lubbock, TX and their son Hamill. She is also survived by her brother, Terry Jones of Lubbock, TX. Linda worked as a Food Service Director in Lubbock and Brownfield TX. Linda was a tremendously talented gardener and decorator. However, Linda's absolute passion in life was being an amazing friend to her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandson. She was light-hearted, full of life, and loved to laugh. She made sure that everyone felt loved and cared for. She would often call and check on friends to make sure they were okay and see if they needed anything. Linda was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed cooking homemade meals for her husband and family. She learned to sew from her mom, Lois, and was a good seamstress. She enjoyed decorating and anyone who came to her house would see her creativity. She often sewed pillows, dolls, and décor for her daughters. She loved playing with her grandson, Hamill. One of their favorite things to do was playing in the cotton field behind their farm house. She also enjoyed taking him to parks, and playing Legos, or dressing up in costumes for imaginary play. She was so thankful for both of her sons-in-law. She would often make their favorite meals, and was so thankful to the Lord for giving her daughters such godly men. The sons-in-law were thankful for how much she loved them and imparted godly wisdom to them. They especially enjoyed discussing scripture with her. Linda made friends easily with everyone, and she kept those friendships for life. She was a great strength and encouragement to everyone she knew. The thing Linda did best was being a dedicated and loving wife to Jerry. Their love for camping and their daily Bible studies together was what they shared most dearly with one another. The one thing Linda would want others to know is how important it is to surrender yourself to following Jesus daily. She wanted everyone to get to know Him intimately and follow His instructions to love others as He has loved us. She loved teaching God's Word and was a Bible study teacher her whole life. From the moment she became a Christian in 1970, she became an avid student of God's Word. Her close daily walk with Jesus was real, and she told everyone about the new things she learned about Him at all times. There are no words to describe how much she will be missed. She ran her race well and endured to the very end. Praise the LORD. There will be graveside services for family at Peaceful Gardens in Lubbock, TX. Funeral Service Services
