Linda Carol
Spear
Nov 5, 1947 — Aug 25, 2026
Linda Carol Spear was born November 5, 1947, in Plainview, Texas. She was a woman who never needed an introduction. She had a contagious laugh, a joyful heart and a personality that could fill a room. She lived her life with love, a little bit of sass, and a whole lot of family.
Linda married the love of her life, Donald Spear, in 1964. Together, they built a life full of family, laughter, memories, and 62 years of marriage. They were blessed with two sons, Troy and Terry, who would go on to give Linda the greatest treasures of her life—her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, O.D. and Doris Wheeler, her brothers, Bobbie and Lonnie, and sister in law/best friend Debbie Wheeler. She is survived by her husband Donald, brother Ronnie, as well as her beloved sons, Troy and Terry, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was gifted with eight grandchildren Joshua, Dalton, Kaylee, Stephanie, Toryn, Taelor, Kyndall, and Kaden. As well as eight great grandchildren, Valerie, Kase, Aurora, Karter, AJ, Brynlee, Dayson, and Kolten. Her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. She cherished every moment she got with each of them. To Linda, family wasn't simply something you were born into; family was everything.
She was the kind of Mamaw who made memories. She loved taking her grandchildren shopping for clothes so they could get dressed up and have their pictures made. She loved hosting family gatherings, filling her home with the people she loved, and, of course, making sure there was a good relish tray and her famous "chocolate stuff" to go with enough food to feed the city. Those seemingly little traditions are the memories her family will carry forever.
Linda loved to read, crochet, sew, and whether it was Beanie Babies or holiday bags, she was a collector of everything. She was obsessed with the color purple even making her husband share a purple room for years, and in Linda's world, nothing was ever truly complete without a little sparkle. She really had a way of making ordinary moments feel so special.
And while she might have hated admitting it, Linda secretly loved spending time at the race track right alongside the rest of the family. It was just another place where she could laugh, make memories, and be surrounded by the people she loved.
Most of all, Linda loved her family deeply. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life, and there was never any question about how fiercely she loved them. She wanted to see them happy, dressed up, laughing, growing, and making memories of their own.
Linda also loved Jesus. Her faith gave her comfort and peace, and she knew that He would always take care of her and the people she loved so dearly. Even in the hardest moments, she trusted that she was never alone.
Linda leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, traditions, and love. She leaves behind a family who will miss her sass, her laughter, her sparkle, and the way she made each of them feel loved.
She was a wife, a mother, a mamaw, a sister, and a friend—but to her family, she was so much more. She was home.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we will continue to find her in the things she loved: in the color purple, in a little bit of sparkle, around a crowded family table, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in every memory she helped create.
We will miss you forever Mamaw and every memory with you will always be etched in our lives forever.
In accordance with the family's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
