Kenneth Schafer Obituary On 29 November 2014, Army SSG (R) Kenneth David Schafer, son of Earl C. and Ruth Alice Prain Schafer born on 15 April 1941 in Lovelock, Nevada passed away at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Before he retired, Ken served as a meteorological technician and a chaplain's aid at White Sands Missile Range. Often friends and family would find themselves listening to Ken talk about his gemstones, or complimenting his recently made jewelry. Ken's study of philosophy led to countless debates and his love of nature often found him on an adventure, coffee in hand. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Karen, and his siblings Jean Ann Schafer Eberhart and Robert Donald Schafer. He is survived by his siblings Adell Schafer Dickelman of Linn Creek, MO, Dawn Schafer Windsor of Sacramento, CA, Richard Schafer of Linn Creek, MO and Earl James Schafer of Cape Canaveral, FL; his children Rachele Schafer ED.D. of Bemidji MN, Army SSG (R) Shane and Andrea Schafer of Huntsville, Texas and Eric and Shannon Schafer of Richmond, Texas, his grandchildren Andrew Jones, Air Force SSgt Joshua Jones, Katharyn Jones, Taylor Schafer and KayLynn Schafer, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and adoptive family.
