Johnny Neal Obituary Buford Johnny Neal. 65, of Slaton passed away February 1 in Lubbock, Texas. Johnny was born June 8, 1952 in Norman, OK. Johnny graduated Cooper High School in 1970. He joined the Marines after graduation and continued serving the Marine Reserves until 1976. Johnny married his wife, Jackye Gregg on September 27, 1975 in Littlefield, TX. Johnny began his work career as a cotton ginner for his father at McClung Coop Gin until hiring on with the BNSF Railroad in 1977. Johnny retired with 35 years of service as a locomotive engineer in 2012. Johnny answered to different names such as Buflegs, Poppy, Guapo, and BJ but the most important name he answered to was D Dog and Dad. Johnny is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jackye, 2 sons, Brodie Neal of Slaton and Bryce Neal of Midland, mother, Mayme Neal of Slaton, 2 brothers, Loyd Neal and wife Pam of Slaton and J.C. (Jake) Neal of Slaton and 2 sisters, Mary Aultman and husband Gary Dallas and Mincy Fondy and husband Wesley of Slaton and several nieces and nephews, many friends and his 2 faithful companions, Emme and Angel. Johnny was preceded in death by his father Buford J.C.(Shorty) Neal. Johnny loved following his sons as they participated in all sports and area stock shows. They were his life. After his retirement Johnny enjoyed spending time at the lake with his friends. Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, from 3-5 at Agape Funeral Chapel in Lubbock. Celebration of life will be at 2 at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton. Burial to follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Services
