Obituary

Janice Cartmill was born on July 21, 1941, in Tahoka, Texas, to Murrell and Eunice Sales. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her loved ones on April 11, 2026.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening 6 to 8 P.M., April 16th at Agape Funeral Chapel, 6625 19th St., Suite 103, Lubbock, Texas 79407.

Burial will take place at 9:30 A.M. Friday Morning, April 17th in the Resthaven Cemetery in Southland, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, 9507 Indiana Ave., Lubbock, Texas 79423.

Fiercely loved by all who knew her, Janice treasured her family more than words could ever express. She married Troy Cartmill on August 14, 1959, and together they raised two beautiful daughters while living all over the state of Texas, sharing their faith and spreading the Word. She found joy in being "Nanna" to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply. She led a life of purpose and instilled the same sense of purpose into the hearts and lives of her family.

Janice dedicated her life to teaching and was equally loved in the classroom. She spent her years pouring love and kindness into every student she encountered. Her patience and grace made her a respected educator, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.

Our lives are better having known her. She will be missed beyond measure.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Murrell and Eunice Sales; her siblings, Ronnie Sales, Donnie Sales, Ann Beard, and Jo Waldrip; her son, Troy Wayne; and her grandson, Jacob Williams.

She is survived by her loving husband, Troy; her sister Libby McGehee and husband Dennis; her daughters Dana Williams and Diane McMeans and husband Steve; her grandchildren Jordan Hickman and husband Robert, Macy Dickson and husband Josh, Hannah Jones and husband Derrick, Matthew McMeans and wife Brenna, and Micah McMeans and fiancée Mikaela Herndon; and her great-grandchildren Brix, Huck, and Kloe Jones; Gibson and Madison Hickman; Aiden and Jace Dickson; and Ruth and Wyatt McMeans.
