James Taylor, Sr Obituary James Harlan Taylor, Sr., of Lubbock, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 17, 2013, in Lubbock. He was born into this life Friday, April 23, 1943 to John Henry Jr. and Opel Bell (Black) Taylor in Paducah. James Sr. spent his life working as a carpenter, retiring from Lee Lewis Construction. He was blessed to be married to Shirley Burkhart for more than 44 years. James was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Billy Joe Taylor. The memory of James will be cherished by his wife, Shirley; a sister Jan Kelly and husband David; children, Marsha Paul and husband Kelly, Don Strickland and wife Debra, Sandra Burton and husband Billy, Kathy Shelton and husband Duane, Lisa Draper and husband Don, and James H. Taylor, Jr. and wife Melissa. In addition to those previously mentioned, James is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service, to celebrate James' 70 years of life, is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Kingdom Life Fellowship, Lubbock, with Jill Clevenger officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Agape Funeral Chapel, Lubbock.
