Obituary

Jacob Mason Hoefs, "Jake" was welcomed into the world Tuesday, November 3, 1998 to parents, Marc and Tonni Hoefs, brother David and a loving extended family.

Jake was precocious, full of curiosity and had an endearing smile. He grew to be a brilliant and loyal man, never tired of learning and had a quick, sharp wit, often dripping with sarcasm. He was hard-working, fearless and kind and he approached his life with a quiet confidence in who he was. Jake was artistic and creative. Music was an important part of his life. He played guitar beautifully with skill and finesse, spending hours honing his craft. He found joy in sharing the music that he loved with others, making playlists and sending songs that he thought they would like. He enjoyed tracing and origami and drawing bridges. He loved driving and reading and listening to books of all genres.

Jake attended Trinity Christian School, Pre K through junior high, and Lubbock and Frenship high schools. He became a long haul, over the road truck driver in 2020, and could park and maneuver even the largest rigs with ease. He came back home to Lubbock in 2024 and was a driver for Western Dairy Transport. He stepped into eternity on July 31, 2026. Jake was deeply loved by so many and was unique in all the world.

He is survived by his mother, Tonni Jones, brother David Hoefs, sister-in-law and friend Emily Hoefs and nephew Bennett Hoefs. Grandmother "Mimi" Alice Higgins, grandfather and grandmother, Yancey "Yandaddy" and Sherrie "Sherrie Berrie" Jones, his uncle Mason Jones and his great-grandmother Joy "Nana" Jones, his grandmother Joanne Hoefs, plus cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his "PawPaw" Mike Higgins, father Marc Hoefs, grandfather Roger Hoefs and uncle Steve Hoefs.

A service remembering the joy of Jake will be held Monday, August 10th, at 6:30 pm at Hilltop at Bland Farms. Memorials may be made to a fund set up in Jake's name that will directly bless and benefit musicians in the West Texas region. Contact Don't Fret Guitar Studio for information. Or to Southwest Parkinson's Society.

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
