Irmgard Wagner Obituary Irmgard Wagner, age 88 of Lubbock, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016. Irmgard was born at home on October 19, 1927 in Mecklenburg, Germany and was the daughter of Frederick & Wilhemina Ruhe. She always loved telling the story of how the midwife was late and her father delivered her. She often shared that right from her birth, God always had His hand on her life. She escaped East Germany at the end of World War II and came to America where she met and fell in love with her future husband Ewald Wagner, Jr. They were married at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on February 23, 1957. Irmgard was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her children and two grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and loved preparing meals for her family and friends. She was also a long time active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schenectady, New York. She was preceded in death by her spouse Ewald Wagner, Jr. of Schenectady, New York in 1991. She leaves behind a son Frederick Wagner and spouse Marlene of Georgetown, Texas; a son Thomas Wagner and spouse Kimberly of Lubbock, TX; a granddaughter Amanda Wagner of Van Nuys, CA; grandson William Wagner and spouse Kristy and great granddaughter Paige of Menasha, WI. She is also survived by a sister Anneliese Splittgerber and spouse Erwin of Schenectady, New York and several nieces and nephews in New York State and Germany. A private memorial service was held on January 30, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas for family members only. Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Albany, New York at a future date.
