Obituary

Flora Campbell Obituary Flora Cross Campbell was exactly 88 years old when she passed away on June 4, 2016. Her health had been declining for some time and was with Interim Hospice, while still living at home, the last two months of her life. From Milton, Massachusetts, Flora was the fourth child born into a proud and patriotic family stretching back to the beginning of the United States of America. As a child she learned to play the piano. She was also very active in sports and her Methodist Youth Group. As a young woman she attended several Billy Graham Crusades. Flora retired from International Rectifier after 22 years. She was very active in the Westchester-El Segundo Women of the Moose Auxiliary working for and earning key offices, receiving many awards, and having many friends during her 50 years of service. She loved to travel from Germany to Hawaii, including driving cross-country numerous times with different routes each time to keep up with her beloved relatives and lifelong friends in the New England area and to see the country she loved so much. In 1986 she joined millions of other people in Hands Across America to raise funds for the hungry and homeless here in America. Flora married Edward A. Campbell in 1952. In 1956 they moved to El Segundo, California, while pregnant and with three children under four. Sadly, her husband left after 17 years of marriage. She lived in El Segundo, Ca for 50 years, then at Leisure World in Seal Beach, CA. After suffering from two strokes in 2011, she moved to East Texas in October 2012 to live with her daughter Pamela and son-in-law Carl Stutsman. For the last year she has lived with them in Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Alma Cross, three of her four siblings: Dorothy, Charles Jr., and Henry, her son, Philip and granddaughter Christine. She is survived by her older sister Ruth, sister-in-laws Helen and Sally, daughters, Elizabeth (William) Petreman, and Pamela (Carl) Stutsman, and son, Peter Campbell; six grandchildren, Nan Smith, Philip (Paige) Wolf, Becki Steele, Candice (Honora) Steele, Adam Campbell, and Nicole (Heather) Biel; 13 great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Ashley, Meghan (Trevor) Pruitt-Steele, Kaitlin, Caleb, Austin, Maddie, Kayla, Alexander, Brian , Dylan, Andrew and Elizabeth ; and 3 great-great grandchildren Layla, Mason and Myla, plus numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her. She now rests in her heavenly home with Jesus. Services
