Emmett Lunday, Sr Obituary Emmett Wayne Lunday, Sr., passed from this life Sunday, November 3, 2013, in Lubbock, TX. He was born into this life Sunday, July 5, 1931 to Howard and Beulah (Carley) Lunday in Augusta, AR. Emmett proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Army. While serving his country, he met Emma; they were married January 9, 1951; Emmett later fought in the Korean War. Emmett and Emma were blessed with three daughters and one son. Emmett Sr. was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Emma Lunday; his parents; and two grandsons, Michael Box and Nicholas Dunn. He is survived by three daughters, Mary Detterman, Rosemary Abbott and husband Rick, and Jo Ann Gary and husband Jeff; one son Emmett W. Lunday, Jr. and wife Darlene; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A private family memorial service, to commemorate Emmett's 82 years of life, will be scheduled at a later date.
