Elvira Mendez Thomas passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 73.

Elvira was born on November 19, 1952, to Jesse Treviño Mendez and Joe Mario Mendez. Her mother, Jesse, was born in Three Rivers, Texas, and her father, Joe, was born in Pleasanton, Texas.

Elvira was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life continues through the generations of the family she leaves behind.

She is survived by her children, Amy Longoria of Aubrey, Texas; Felix Longoria and Brandi Longoria of Lubbock, Texas and Shay Don of Lorenzo, TX. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brittany Thomas of Lubbock, Texas.

Elvira was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a piece of her family's story and legacy.  Her life was part of a large and deeply rooted Texas family, beginning with her parents and continuing through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by those who knew and loved her and will remain a part of the stories shared by the generations that follow.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by those who went before her, and may her memory live on through the family she leaves behind.
