Billy Warren Obituary Billy Jack Warren, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, January 14th, 2022 at the age of 94. He was born on October 27th, 1927 in Tahoka, Texas to William and Nora (Hallmark) Warren. After graduation from Tahoka High School, he attended Texas Tech University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy and Farm Machinery. He married Shirley Williams Warren on August 9th, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Bill worked as Chief Accountant for the Texas Department of Transportation for 33 years in the Lubbock District, then went on to represent the welfare of state employees as Assistant Executive Director of the Texas Public Employees Association in Austin. At heart, Bill was a farmer, overseeing the operations of the family cotton farm in Lynn County. As any good West Texas farmer, he always expected the worst, and predicted disaster as the first plants broke through the soil each year. Yet, his final crop in 2021 proved to be in his words, "the crop of a lifetime." In his spare time, Bill led the development of many young men as Scoutmaster of Troop 406, leading dozens of them to achieve the Eagle Scout Award. He was also active with Little League, and the Lubbock High School Booster Club. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved bride of 63 years, and one grandchild, Trevor Black, and leaves behind three sons, Louis Warren and wife Laura of Ransom Canyon, Larry Warren and wife Margie of Helotes and Steve Warren and wife Shella of Lubbock, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to the staff at Raider Ranch for the loving care they provided for Bill the last few years.
