Betty Jane
Steele
Jan 28, 1948 — Aug 23, 2026
Betty Jane Steele, 78, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.
Betty was born on January 28, 1948, in Odessa, Texas, to Jack W. Steele and Billie Jean Albertson. She was a woman of grace, kindness, and quiet strength who touched the lives of so many people throughout her life.
Betty spent most of her career as a real estate agent, helping people find their homes in Lubbock and the surrounding communities. She took pride in her work and in the relationships she built along the way.
But more than anything, Betty loved her family and friends. She was a thoughtful and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend. She had a special way of making people feel cared for and welcomed. Betty enjoyed traveling, spending time visiting with the people she loved, and
being at home with her dogs, who brought her so much happiness.
Those who knew Betty will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor, her wit, her
thoughtfulness, and, most of all, her enormous heart. She was a delight to be around and had a way of bringing warmth and laughter wherever she went. Her kindness and genuine love for others left a lasting impression on everyone, fortunate enough to know her.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Jack W. Steele; her mother, Billie Jean Albertson; and her sister, Carol Whitewater Dawn.
She is survived by her daughters, Marla Solano and Amy Strickland; her sister, Norma Niece; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
Betty leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and family. She will be deeply missed—not only by those who called her family, but by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she made a little brighter simply by being a part of them.
