Betty Koemel Obituary Graveside services for Betty Joyce Koemel, 78, longtime resident of Lamesa, will be held on Friday, March 20, at 3 p.m., at Lamesa Memorial Park. No visitation is planned. Mrs. Koemel died on Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Lubbock. She was born on November 8, 1936 in Roswell, N.M. She was a graduate of Draughan Business School in Lubbock. She married Walton C. Koemel on Aug. 27, 1961. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Koemel; and her parents, Fred Brinkley and Edna Brinkley. Survivors include her husband, Walton C. Koemel; a daughter, Patricia Koemel; three grandchildren, Devin James Koemel, Zachary Koemel and Kelly Koemel-Johnson and her husband, Daniel Johnson; and a great-granddaughter, Ane Rose Johnson.
