Alan Dale
Woods
Jan 9, 1961 — Mar 3, 2013
Alan Woods Obituary Alan Dale Woods passed from this life Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. He was born into this life Monday, January 9, 1961 to Jake and Ruth (James) Woods in Mattoon, IL. Alan married Virginia Williams January 20, 1989. Alan was born in Mattoon, Illinois, loved to travel and had the opportunity to live in many different places in his life. He has lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Corpus Christi, Texas, Las Vegas, NV, Miami, Florida, Queen Creek, AZ, and Lubbock, Texas. His most favorite place to travel: Hawaii. His favorite band: Metallica. He loved Motorcycles, drag racing and Starbucks coffee. He had many different jobs throughout his life. He worked for Pioneer Seed in Illinois, he worked as a punch press operator, a security guard for the Marriott Corporation and did maintenance for the condos in Port Aransas, Texas but his favorite job did not pay him monetarily. His favorite job was as house husband to Virginia. He did everything including cooking, cleaning, laundry and treating Virginia as a princess. He made sure she had a clean house, clean clothes, uniforms and a hot meal when she came home from work. Shortly after the move to Arizona he had a disc that burst in his neck which caused him to have nerve damage that made it difficult to do anything with his right arm and as the years progressed it moved into his left arm. The pain medication knocked him out and made his head foggy which he did not like. Alan decided not to take the medication and try to deal with the pain so that at least his head would be clear. The pain became too bad and the thought of having to take the pills and the possible addiction was more than he could handle. Alan will truly be missed by everyone that knew him. There was not a person he would not help if he could and he had a special love for animals. This love for animals caused him to become a pescatarian. He adores his cat Pogo and his dog Kona. Survivors include his wife of 24 years. Virginia of Lubbock, Texas, his parents Jake and Ruth Woods currently residing in Apache Junction, Arizona and his son Aaron Woods of Watauga, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Alan's family suggests, due to Alan's love for animals, that memorial contributions, in honor of Alan, be made to the Humane Society.
