Abbie (Adelina) Guerra Gonzales

February 16, 1954 – January 8, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, "Momma Bear," Abbie Gonzales, who went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2026, at her residence in Lubbock, Texas. Private funeral services will be held at the family's request under the direction of Agape Funeral Home.

Abbie was born on February 16, 1954, in Plainview, Texas, to Paul Guerra and Juanita May. On June 1, 1970, she married the love of her life, Henry Gonzales. Together they raised four children and shared a devoted and loving marriage that lasted until the end of her life.

Throughout the years, Abbie worked in various professions, including as a certified nurse's aide, teacher's aide, and bus driver. She had a deep love for Jesus and an even deeper love for her family. Known for her strength, independence, humor, and sharp wit, Abbie delighted in bright colors, especially red, loved dressing up and shopping, and thrived when surrounded by others. Her love for Jesus and her family was fierce, steadfast, and unconditional.

Abbie found joy in family gatherings, group activities, and any occasion that allowed her to laugh and connect with others. She also cherished the simple moments—going to eat, sharing coffee and conversation around the dinner table with those she loved most. She will be profoundly missed, and her memory will forever remain close to the hearts of her husband and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Henry Gonzales of Lubbock, Texas; her sons, Patrick Gonzales (Debbie Gonzales) of Abilene, Texas, and Rickey Gonzales of Lubbock, Texas; and her daughters, Lisa Betancourt (Edward Betancourt) and April Gonzales of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Ellie Avila, Angie Bradley, Teena Lopez, and Judy Guerra, and her brother, Daniel Guerra.

Abbie leaves behind ten grandchildren: Randy Gonzales, Danielle Juarez, Jacob Gonzales, Mercedes Gonzales, Echo Betancourt, David Juarez, Austin Armendarez, Marina Betancourt, Adam Armendarez, and Avery Armendarez; three great-grandchildren, Raydn Gonzales, Elijah Murdock, and Nyah Gonzales; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Juanita Guerra; her sisters, Klara Gonzales and Lavonne Huneycutt; her infant brother, Darrell Guerra; and her niece, Vickie Lozano.
